General Description:

The Equipment Operator will operate equipment safely and efficiently as assigned, while meeting production goals and quality standards. The Equipment Operator will work alongside and mentor apprentices and operator technicians to advance their operating capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Safely operate equipment, without incident, while maintaining daily inspection logs and conducting daily preventative maintenance checks
  • Efficiently and effectively operate equipment to increase engagement and decrease downtime, while properly communicating with the project supervision on any issues that may arise
  • Work alongside other team members to encourage their growth and the overall progress towards the daily, weekly, monthly and overall project goals
  • Understand how to utilize the assigned technology to operate more efficiently, reduce cycle times and overall grading durations, and ensure proper drainage at all times
  • Understand soil and compaction requirements and communicate with the project supervision about what is being experienced in the field related to stone and soil types
  • Perform all assigned tasks, responsibilities, and related work processes in the safest possible manner, always ensuring that a safe, accident/incident-free work environment is maintained for all coworkers, clients, suppliers, etc.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/GED – Preferred
  • Vocational or technical training/work experience in grading/site development/construction
  • Ability to safely lead crews for quality and production
  • Ability to work with and troubleshoot machine control systems
  • Knowledge of soil and stone conditions and earthmoving
  • Accurate measurement and calculation skills and mechanical reasoning
  • Problem-solving, troubleshooting, and maintenance reasoning
  • Open communication with supervisor and team members
  • Implementation of site safety and work-task plans
  • Ability to recognize and correct job site hazards
  • Ability to make judgments and decisions at task level
  • Consistent focus on safety, quality, production, and innovation
  • Current valid driver’s license and pre-employment drug screen
  • OSHA 10-Hour Certification
  • First Aid/CPR
  • Ability to lift, carry, or move up to 25 lbs.
  • Frequent steering, riding, bouncing, along with the ability to sit for long periods of time on heavy equipment
